This working session is designed for Secondary Math Teacher Leaders and District Curriculum Leaders and will be led by the NCDPI Secondary Math Consultants. These sessions are supported by the Northeast and Central Carolina RESAs. We are encouraging schools and districts to attend as teams. Each person attending must register separately

ELA Summer PD Registration Link
Supporting Aligned Instruction in the English Language Arts Classroom
Join NCDPI ELA consultants and learn about a coaching tool that helps teachers, and those who support teachers, build understanding and experience with ELA Standards-aligned instruction. This developmental tool can be used for planning, reflection, and collaboration. Developed by the Student Achievement Partners, the Instructional Practice Guides provide a framework for guided discussion about aligned instructional practices for ELA. Along with gaining strategies and resources, participants will complete activities and have discussions around each core action of the Guide.

This 3-Day session is designed for Middle school and High school Science teachers and District Curriculum Leaders. Join the NCDPI Secondary Science Consultants to learn how to develop effective pacing guides to ensure that our students are prepared for the Science EOG, NC Final Exams and Biology EOC. The Science Consultants will share their model for developing units aligned with the pacing guide and other research-based curriculum and instructional components. This is an excellent opportunity to bring a team of teachers and district staff to collaborate on developing these curriculum tools for your school/district.

SAVE THE DATE - Principal Ready Fall 2016

NCDPI is partnering with stakeholder organizations for the fall PREADY series to share information about several initiatives relevant to the current needs of school leaders. Please attend to hear from NCDPI consultants, the Friday Institute, the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Office, and the New Teacher Center. Sessions include learning more about the state’s Digital Learning Plan to support administrators in transitioning to digital-age learning, national research on how National Board Certified teachers can be better utilized as Teacher Leaders, and the 2016 analysis of the North Carolina Teacher Working Conditions Survey Data. Observation Calibration Training (OCT)REGISTRATION LINK FOR 2016-17
DPI is providing school administrators with an online platform to improve their skills as a classroom observer using the NCEES rubric. Participants will be able to watch classroom videos, observe instruction, rate teachers, and receive immediate feedback as to the recommended ratings. School administrators have the option of participating as an individual or as a LEA/Charter team. In the 2014-2015 pilot, the more Lessons school administrators completed, the more their scoring improved.
